Safety

Throw safely, look after each other.

A flying disc is a hard object moving fast. Everything below exists so a Sunday morning stays a Sunday morning.

The rules that matter

  • Nobody throws while a person, pet or vehicle is anywhere near the landing area. When in doubt, wait.
  • Shout a loud "FORE!" the moment a throw goes off line, and take the call seriously when you hear it.
  • Throw in order: the player whose disc is furthest from the basket throws first.
  • Stand behind the person throwing, never beside or ahead of them.
  • Play the disc where it lies, or take a step back if the lie is unsafe. This is a casual round, not a sanctioned event.
  • Keep a hole open ahead of you and let a faster group play through.

Course and venue etiquette

  • Arrive by 9:15 to 9:20 a.m. so cards are sorted before the 9:30 a.m. tee off.
  • Stay quiet and still while someone is throwing.
  • Help look for lost discs, and hand back any disc that isn't yours.
  • Stay on the fairways and out of the brewery's working areas, tanks and fences.
  • Pack out everything you brought in, including bottle caps and tape.
  • Leave wildlife, livestock and plantings alone.
  • Drinking is a Live Oak decision, not ours: follow their rules and never throw after you have had too much.

If someone gets hurt

In any emergency in Texas, call 911 first. The course address to give them is 1615 Crozier Ln, Del Valle, TX 78617.

1. Stop play on the hole

Call a stop so nobody throws into the area while someone is being helped.

2. Check how serious it is

Head, neck, back, eye injuries, heavy bleeding, chest pain, trouble breathing, or anyone who is confused or unconscious: call 911 straight away. Do not move them unless they are in danger where they lie.

3. Tell an organizer

Find a co-organizer on the course, or call out for one. We will bring the group's first aid kit and meet responders at the parking area.

4. Tell the brewery staff

Live Oak Brewing staff can open gates, guide an ambulance in and reach a defibrillator faster than we can.

5. Heat is the most common problem here

Get the person into shade, give water slowly, cool the neck and wrists. Cramping, headache, dizziness or a stopped sweat means the round is over for them. Call 911 for confusion or collapse.

6. Tell us afterwards

Let an organizer know about any injury, even a small one, so we can fix whatever caused it before next Sunday.

We are not medical professionals and we do not provide medical care, first aid training or supervision. Bring anything you personally need: water, sun protection, medication, an inhaler, an EpiPen.

Participation terms and disclaimer

By showing up to Sunday Service you agree to the following. Please read it before your first round.

  • This is an informal, free gathering. Sunday Service is not a club, league, tournament, business or sanctioned event. There is no membership, no fee, no registration and no insurance of any kind covering participants.
  • You take part at your own risk. Disc golf carries real risks, including being struck by a disc, falls, uneven ground, water, wildlife, insects, weather, heat illness and collisions. You accept those risks for yourself, for anyone you bring, and for any minor in your care.
  • You are responsible for yourself. You are responsible for your own health, fitness, decisions, equipment, discs, property, transport, alcohol consumption and conduct, and for anyone you bring with you. Minors must be supervised by their own parent or guardian at all times.
  • No supervision or duty of care. Organizers and volunteers are unpaid participants, not coaches, referees, marshals, lifeguards or medical staff. Nothing on this site is medical, legal or safety advice.
  • Release of liability. To the fullest extent allowed by Texas law, you release and hold harmless the Sunday Service organizers, volunteers and participants, and Live Oak Brewing and its owners, staff and property owners, from any claim, demand, injury, illness, death, loss or damage to property arising from your participation, travel to or from the course, or presence on the property, including claims based on ordinary negligence.
  • The venue's rules come first. Live Oak Brewing is private property. Their staff can close the course, change hours or ask anyone to leave at any time, for any reason, and we follow their decision.
  • We can cancel any Sunday. Weather, course conditions or venue closures can end a round at any point. Check the status on this site before you leave home.
  • Information here may be wrong or out of date. Times, forecasts, course details and venue information are provided as a courtesy with no warranty of accuracy.
  • Photos. Photos taken at the gathering may appear on this site. Ask us and we will remove any photo of you.

If any part of this is unenforceable where you live, the rest still applies. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not take part.
